Physics of Sports is one of my personal favorite classes, because it does something no classroom ever can — it puts physics in the hands, the feet, and the lungs of every student. Although the class is online and over Zoom, the kids will learn experiments to do while playing their favorite sports. All of their five senses are engaged. The learning is not passive; it is physical and deeply fun. But something quite extraordinary happens by the end! The sports these kids have played for years begin to feel different. Their minds are now running invisible calculations — trajectory, velocity, momentum, impulse — while they play. They have been let in on a secret that most athletes never discover. And that secret becomes a kind of superpower that no other player on the field possesses. We will have optional attendance for Kahoot and Booklet games every day for 30 min after the class!
