Physics of Sports-Wednesday-12 noon EST
Wednesdays, 12 EST/9 am PST 45 minutes
Service Description
This class is designed for returning students or those who have completed the first semester of Newtonian Mechanics with me. The course will be at the quantitative level, where I use equations and do plenty of calculations. In this 11-week course, we’ll explore the fascinating physics behind sports like running, swimming, baseball, skiing, and even high jumping. You’ll learn how concepts like momentum, energy, and centripetal force play a crucial role in athletic performance. For example, we’ll analyze how swimmers reduce drag forces and how baseball players transfer momentum for that perfect hit! If you are currently enrolled in one of my other courses, you will get a discount for this course. The tuition for those students will be $150 for the remaining 10 classes or $15/class. Please write to me to get a Zoom Link to the course. The next session starts on December 4th, 2024, and will end on February 26th. We will not meet between December 23rd and Jan 3rd for Winter recess. This course meets 11 times during those three months. The tuition for this course is $220 ($20/class) .
